The Domaine Roc des Boutires was purchased in 2017 by the Parinet family, owners of the Château du Moulin-à-Vent estate in Romanèche-Thorins. The 4.2 ha estate, all planted in chardonnay, is spread over 14 different parcels, rooted in the rocky limestone terroir of the Roche de Solutré. Viticulture is fully organic (no certification) and all the work is done by hand. The use of sulphites is judicious and no other inputs, or interventionist techniques are used. Annual production is approx. 20,000 allocated bottles.

100% chardonnay. Village blend of 4 plots: A la Roue (clay soils), Barvay (argiles à chailles - clay with flint pebbles), Aux Combes (clay and limestone), and En Bertilionne (marl limestones). Aged 15 months on fine lees, 80% in stainless steel tanks and 20% in oak barrels. French oak from the Tronçais forests. Medium heated.

Aromas of musky peach, orange oil and citrus blossom introduce the 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé, a medium to full-bodied wine that’s supple and satiny, with a pretty core of fruit, racy acids and a mineral finish. Bright and precise despite its demonstrative fruit tones, it’s already showing well.
