The Domaine Roc des Boutires was purchased in 2017 by the Parinet family, owners of the Château du Moulin-à-Vent estate in Romanèche-Thorins. The 4.2 ha estate, all planted in chardonnay, is spread over 14 different parcels, rooted in the rocky limestone terroir of the Roche de Solutré. Viticulture is fully organic (no certification) and all the work is done by hand. The use of sulphites is judicious and no other inputs, or interventionist techniques are used. Annual production is approx. 20,000 allocated bottles.

100% chardonnay. Village blend of 4 plots: A la Roue (clay soils), Barvay (argiles à chailles - clay with flint pebbles), Aux Combes (clay and limestone), and En Bertilionne (marl limestones). Aged 15 months on fine lees, 80% in stainless steel tanks and 20% in oak barrels. French oak from the Tronçais forests. Medium heated.

Aromas of musky peach, orange oil and citrus blossom introduce the 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé, a medium to full-bodied wine that’s supple and satiny, with a pretty core of fruit, racy acids and a mineral finish. Bright and precise despite its demonstrative fruit tones, it’s already showing well.

The Château du Moulin-à-Vent, named for the 300-year-old stone windmill atop the hill of Les Thorins, dates back to 1732, and was called at the time Château des Thorins. Today, it is owned by the Parinet Family. The estate encompasses 37 hectares of the appellation’s finest climats — Les Vérillats, Le Champ de Cour, La Rochelle, Clos de Londres — planted to Gamay Noir averaging 50 years in age. All the vineyards are farmed organically (official certification in 2024). Edouard Parinet has opted for non conventional approach for the region: high density planted and trellised vineyards; low yields of 20 –35 hectolitres per hectare; and Burgundy style vinification with destemming (around 30%) / punch downs. The resulting wines are known to have to potential for cellaring and are thought-after by wine collectors around the world. Edouard Parinet and winemaker Brice Laffond craft some of the most interesting wines of Southern Burgundy. In 2016, Parinet purchased Domaine Roc des Boutires in Pouilly Fuissé, applying the same recipes.

100% old gamay rooted in granitic soils rich in iron oxide and manganese. Blend of three East facing plots located below the historic mill in deeper soils : La Delatte, Les Rouchaux, and Les Maisonneuves. Each plot is vinified separately. Aged 15 months in stainless steel tanks.

Juicy, structured and with attractive red-berry flavors, this wine comes from three different parcels. The ripe fruits are heading towards maturity although the tannins will need to soften first. Drink this solid, structured wine from 2023.

100% old chardonnay rooted on the northern slopes of the village of Solutré. Hand harvested. Vinified in tanks. Aged 12 months in tanks (95%) and used oak barrels.

Perfumed yellow fruit intermixed with peach skin on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine bead of acidity, good weight and purity and a spice dash towards the finish. Enjoy over the next three to four years. (88 Vinous)

In an unparalleled classic style, it is a luminous and precise white with very expressive fruitiness. A ripe Chardonnay combining freshness and minerality, floral and chalky notes. The palate is fine and chiseled, a nice entry-level, sapid and salivating.
