Camille Cayran - Cairanne Grande Réserve
Created in 1929, Cave de Cairanne is located in the heart of the Crus of the Meridional Rhône Valley, a stone throw away from the magnificent Dentelles de Montmirail montains. The cooperative is composed of 65 families, whose a dozen represents 80% of the total production. All are devoted to producing the most qualitative grapes from the 550 hectares of vineyards, farmed with an organic approach.
50% grenache, 30% syrah, 20% mourvèdre. Twenty five to forty years old vines. The vineyards are located north of the village, in the Montagne du Ventabren site. Soils are composed of limestone, with flint alterning with marls. South facing. Vinified with indigenous yeasts in concrete vats with regular punching downs. No sulfur is added during the winemaking stage. Aged in concrete for 10 months. Low sulfite 22mg/L
Soft, ripe black forest compote nose; nice concentration of fruit on the palate. Good weight. Really well balanced in terms of fruit, acidity and tannin; supple and silky. Lots of juicy, succulent blackberry fruit flavours. Superb length. Some nice complexity coming through too. Dangerously drinkable! Impressive
