Domaine Pierre Martin wine range

Based in Chavignol, Domaine Pierre Martin produces precise, expressive Sancerre from some of the appellation’s most respected vineyard sites. The estate focuses on Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, crafting wines that reflect the limestone-rich soils, steep slopes and cool Loire Valley climate that define this historic village.

The Estate

Pierre Martin took over from his father, Yves Martin, in 2004 and has since expanded the family domaine from 4 hectares to approximately 17 hectares. The estate remains rooted in Chavignol, with vineyard holdings in notable sites including Les Monts Damnés and Culs de Beaujeu. Careful farming and precise cellar work guide the domaine’s approach.

Vineyards and Terroir

The vineyards are planted on two classic Sancerre soil types: caillottes, composed of stony limestone, and terres blanches, a mix of clay and limestone. These soils bring freshness, structure and mineral character to the wines. The steep slopes and elevated sites around Chavignol help preserve acidity while allowing the grapes to develop depth and aromatic complexity.

Winemaking

Winemaking is guided by restraint and clarity. Sauvignon Blanc is vinified to preserve citrus, floral aromatics and mineral tension, while Pinot Noir is handled gently to emphasize finesse, red fruit and supple structure. The goal is to let each vineyard site speak clearly through the finished wine.

Wine Style

The whites are bright, mineral and precise, with notes of citrus, white flowers and wet stone. The reds show elegant Pinot Noir character, with red berry fruit, fine tannins and earthy nuance. Across the range, the wines combine purity, freshness and the classic energy of Sancerre.
