Cantine Dei is one of the leading estates of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, combining family ownership, exceptional vineyard holdings and a long-term commitment to showcasing the character of this historic Tuscan appellation.

The Estate

The story began in 1964 when Alibrando Dei recognized the potential of the Bossona area and planted the estate’s first vineyards. During the 1970s, the family expanded with the acquisition of Villa Martiena and additional vineyard sites that remain at the heart of the estate today. Under the leadership of Caterina Dei, the winery has become one of Montepulciano’s most respected producers and an ambassador for Vino Nobile di Montepulciano around the world.

Vineyards and Terroir

The vineyards are located in some of Montepulciano’s most sought-after growing areas, including Bossona, Martiena and La Ciarliana. Clay, limestone and sandy soils, combined with warm days and cool evenings, create ideal conditions for Prugnolo Gentile, the local expression of Sangiovese that forms the foundation of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.

Winemaking

Respect for vineyard character guides every decision in the cellar. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks before ageing in a combination of large oak casks and French oak barrels, depending on the wine. The objective is balance, structure and longevity while preserving the purity of the fruit and the identity of each vineyard site.

Wine Style

The wines combine depth, freshness and refinement. Vino Nobile offerings show dark cherry, plum, dried herbs and earthy complexity supported by firm yet polished tannins. The whites and Rosso di Montepulciano share the same focus on balance, purity and food-friendly character.
