One of Chinon’s leading biodynamic estates, Domaine Pascal Lambert has built a reputation for producing pure, terroir-driven Cabernet Franc wines from some of the Loire Valley’s most distinctive vineyard sites. Located in Cravant-les-Coteaux, the estate combines organic farming, biodynamic viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking to create wines of precision, freshness and authenticity.
The Estate
Founded in 1987 by Béatrice and Pascal Lambert, the estate spans 13 hectares planted primarily to Cabernet Franc, with a small amount of Chenin Blanc. Organic farming began more than two decades ago, followed by biodynamic certification in 2012. Today, the domaine is recognized as one of Chinon’s benchmark producers, respected for its commitment to environmental stewardship and vineyard expression.
Vineyards and Terroir
The vineyards are spread across a mosaic of sandy-gravel, limestone-clay and flinty clay soils that define the character of Chinon. Limestone contributes structure and minerality, while sandy parcels produce more approachable and fruit-driven wines. Biodynamic farming practices include horse ploughing, cover crops and careful management of vineyard biodiversity, helping preserve soil vitality and vineyard balance.
Winemaking
Winemaking is guided by a philosophy of minimal intervention. Grapes are hand harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts. Depending on the cuvée, ageing takes place in concrete tanks or large oak vessels to preserve freshness and vineyard character. Sulphur use is kept to a minimum and wines are lightly filtered before bottling, resulting in expressive and vibrant wines that reflect their origin.
Wine Style
The wines combine freshness, purity and structure. Cabernet Franc expresses vibrant red fruit, floral notes and refined tannins, while maintaining the energy and minerality characteristic of Chinon. Across the range, the focus remains on balance, drinkability and a clear sense of place.
