Brunello Il Marroneto

Il Marroneto: Tradition and Precision in Brunello di Montalcino

Il Marroneto, established in 1974 by Giuseppe Mori and now led by his son Alessandro Mori, is a small but prestigious estate located just outside the medieval town of Montalcino, Tuscany. The winery produces some of the most elegant and sought-after Brunello di Montalcino wines, celebrated for their balance and complexity. Situated at 350 meters above sea level, Il Marroneto’s vineyards benefit from a unique microclimate, with cool night breezes and ideal sun exposure, creating perfect conditions for growing Sangiovese grapeseyards The 6 hectares of vineyards are planted on the northern slopes of Montalcino, where the soils are composed of mineral-rich sands with layers of coarse, stony subsoil. This composition allows excellent drainage and helps create wines with a pronounced minerality and vibrant acidity. The altitude and orientation ensure a slow ripening process, resulting in grapes that develop intense aromatics and refined tannins. Il Marroneto’s flagship wine, Madonna delle Grazie, is produced from a special plot close to the historical chapel, offering exceptional depth and aging potential.

Traditional and Sustainable Winemaking

Alessandro Mori is known for his dedication to traditional methods, employing long fermentations and aging the wines in large Slavonian oak barrels for three to four years. This approach, combined with a commitment to minimal intervention, allows the purity and character of the Sangiovese grape to shine through. Mori’s respect for the environment is reflected in his sustainable vineyard practices, ensuring that the land is preserved for future generations.
