Domaine Philippe Colin: Crafting Burgundy’s Finest Wines
Located in the prestigious village of Chassagne-Montrachet, Domaine Philippe Colin was established in 2004 after Philippe, having worked alongside his father and brother at the family’s original domaine, decided to branch out independently. Philippe Colin’s domaine spans approximately 12 hectares, including top vineyards in Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, and Santenay, with holdings in several Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites.
Terroir and Vineyards
The vineyards of Domaine Philippe Colin are situated on the iconic limestone and calcareous clay soils of the Côte de Beaune, which contribute to the characteristic minerality, finesse, and complexity of the wines. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines benefit from optimal sun exposure on slopes that allow excellent drainage, leading to the production of some of the most highly regarded white and red wines in Burgundy. Notably, the Premier Cru vineyards of Les Chenevottes and Les Chaumées are prized for their ability to produce wines with exceptional aging potential.
Sustainable Winemaking
Philippe Colin practices lutte raisonnée, a sustainable approach that minimizes chemical intervention, allowing the vines to thrive naturally. The grapes are hand-harvested to ensure only the best fruit is used, and each wine is aged in French oak barrels (25% new oak), which enhances the structure and adds layers of complexity without overpowering the natural flavors of the terroir. Philippe’s dedication to crafting wines that reflect the purity of the vineyard is evident in each bottle.
