Established in 1928, Domaine Michel Juillot is one of Mercurey’s historic family estates. Now led by Laurent Juillot, the domaine has played a significant role in defining the reputation of the Côte Chalonnaise through a collection of vineyard holdings that consistently deliver depth, balance and longevity.

The Estate

Over four generations, the Juillot family has expanded the estate to approximately 31 hectares across the Côte Chalonnaise and Côte de Beaune. The domaine remains family-owned and is widely recognized for its extensive holdings in Mercurey, including several highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards.

Vineyards and Terroir

The vineyards are planted on classic clay-limestone soils, with many parcels benefiting from south and southwest-facing exposures. Premier Cru sites such as Champs Martin and Clos des Barraults are among the estate’s most notable holdings. These well-situated vineyards produce wines with concentration, freshness and the structure that has made Mercurey one of Burgundy’s leading appellations for Pinot Noir.

Winemaking

Viticulture focuses on careful vineyard management and hand harvesting to ensure optimal fruit quality. In the cellar, traditional Burgundian methods are combined with modern precision. Ageing takes place in French oak barrels, selected to complement the wines while preserving fruit purity and vineyard character.

Wine Style

The reds are generous yet refined, showing ripe red and dark fruit, subtle spice and firm but polished tannins. The whites combine richness with freshness, offering texture, mineral lift and excellent balance. Across the range, the wines are known for their consistency, approachability and ability to develop with age.
