The calm and modesty shown by Pascal are in perfect harmony with the decor that surrounds his isolated estate. Even though he doesn't come from generations of vignerons, he managed, in relatively short time, to establish himself as one of the top producers in Chenas. He started his estate with only 4 acres of old gamay vines in Chenas which has now be extended to 10 hectares spreading over the appellations of Chenas, Fleurie and Juliénas.

Thanks to the estate isolation, Pascal can peacefully apply his organic approach to his vines without potential interference from the neighbors. All the vineyard work is done by hand, in respect of the surrounding biodiversity. Winemaking is traditional with use of concrete vats and long maceration. 

The most defining aspect of Juliénas from a terroir perspective is the shift from the igneous-dominant slopes to the west of the zone, peppered with blue granite and diorite, to the flatter areas around the town of Juliénas itself, where the soils transition through to schist and alluvium with pockets of sand and clay.

100% Gamay from un-trellised 70 years old vines planted at 300 meters elevation with east/southeast exposureYield is 40hl/ha. Hand harvested. Whole cluster maceration for 20 days. 12-14 day fermentation in concrete vats using indigenous yeasts. Spends a few months on lees after malolactic. Aged 8 months in concrete vats and neutral oak barrels (15%). Light filtration before bottling, no fining. 

Brilliant violet. Ripe blue fruit, floral pastille and spice aromas are enlivened by a smoky mineral flourish. Sappy boysenberry and violet flavors spread out through the midpalate and become sweeter with air. Fleshy and smooth in texture but lively as well. Finishes sappy and long, with gentle tannins lending shape and final grip.
