Located in the picturesque village of Saint Romain, in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune, Domaine Buisson reaches back to the 12th century. The estate is certified organic and biodynamic. Brothers Franck and Frederic are now in charge. Eleven of the 20 hectares of vines are in St Romain, across eight different sites, headlined by the signature plots of Sous La Velle (Chardonnay) and Sous Roche (Pinot Noir). These appellations have been overlooked since they are somewhat isolated in a valley behind Meursault and Volnay. Vineyard exposures are excellent, the slopes are steep and the soils are a mix of clay, limestone and marls. The slightly cooler temperatures result in a longer growing season and wines that carry a pleasant and refreshing acidity. The Buisson domaine is a fine source of terroir-expressive wines that offer outstanding value.

100% old pinot noir vines. The plot is located just accross Buisson’s Saint Romain Sous la Velle Chardonnay. Hand harvested. Aged 12 months in old oak barrels.

Perfumed with notes of raspberries and cherry blossoms, this is a spry, lifted expression of Pinot Noir. Pure fruited and mouthwatering yet penetrating and racy, it is made from biodynamically grown grapes sourced from 60-year-old vines and fermented predominantly in whole clusters. Edged by a lingering edge of fine, taut tannins, it’s ready to drink young but could be cellared a few more years.
