Savoie Domaine Vendange

Domaine Vendange: A Jewel in the Heart of Savoie

Domaine Vendange, established in 2015, is a family-run winery located in the Combe de Savoie on the foothills of the Massif des Bauges in Saint-Pierre-d’Albigny. Managed by Benjamin Vendange and his partner Diane Gounel, the estate covers 10 hectares of vineyards situated on south-facing slopes that benefit from optimal sun exposure, essential for producing high-quality wines. The estate’s terroir is unique, featuring a variety of soils that originated from glacial moraines, formed just 15,000 years ago. These soils range from limestone to scree and silty clay, which contribute to the complexity and minerality of the wines.

Terroir and Vineyards

The vineyards, located in the hamlet of Miolanet, are dedicated to growing traditional Savoie grape varieties such as Jacquère, Altesse, and Mondeuse. The unique combination of youthful soils and varied terroir, along with the climate, helps to create vibrant, fresh wines with distinctive aromas that reflect the local landscape. The estate employs organic farming practices, though not officially certified, with a commitment to preserving the natural ecosystem. This approach minimizes interventions and allows the natural flavors and characteristics of the grapes to shine through.

Sustainable Practices and Vinification

Domaine Vendange focuses on minimal intervention winemaking, using indigenous yeasts for fermentation and minimizing the use of sulfites. The winemaking process includes gentle extractions and long macerations, allowing the full expression of the terroir. The estate’s modern vinification facility is equipped with temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and certain cuvées are aged in oak barrels to enhance complexity without overwhelming the fruit.
