Tardieu Laurent was created in the early 1990s and it takes its name from the two original, founding partners, Michel Tardieu (Rhône) and Dominique Laurent (Burgundy). Today, the company is run by the Tardieu Family.
Tardieu Laurent is is one of the most highly acclaimed artisan négociants in the Rhône. They work with 80 vignerons throughout the northern and southern Rhône. Tardieu Laurent has been widely recognized for having secured long-term, hand-shake deals with vignerons who carefully guard the prime location of their 50- to 100-plus-year-old vines. Bastien Tardieu and his father Michel follow closely all the stages from viticulture to winemaking. The hand picked barrels are delivered to the growers for the first 8 to 12 months and then moved to the Tardieu’s cellar in Lourmarin to polish the ageing.
Selection and hand-crafting of wines at this level can only be accomplished on a small scale. Today the production remains limited with two thirds coming from the southern Rhone and one third from the North. The wines are coveted by connoisseurs throughout the world and have earned consistently high praise from numerous respected wine critics. Anyone interested in exploring the splendors of the Rhone Valley would be fortunate to do it with the wines of Tardieu-Laurent.
