The estate dates back to 1789 (French Revolution) and has been owned by the Perroud Family since. Today, Robert, 7th generation, manages the organically farmed domaine and beautifully crafts terroir driven gamay wines. He stands out as a sure bet among these producers who honor Beaujolais and demonstrate the full potential of these wines.
The Estate is located at the foothill of Mont Brouilly, a flat topped volcanic elevation, in the lieu-dit ”Les Balloquets”. The plots of old vine gamay are mostly rooted in south/southeast exposed slopes, some of them being very steep (up to 40% grade). This south west area of the Brouilly terroir is composed of schist and pink granite with the presence of amethysts.
Robert Perroud is a founding partner of TERROIRS ORIGINELS, a collective of independent winemakers from Beaujolais and the Maconnais.
